Activities of the Center for testing vehicles for transport of dangerous goods and diagnostics

In the premises of the Laboratory for Motor Vehicles and the Laboratory for Engines of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences in Kragujevac, the activities of the Center for Testing Vehicles for Transport of Dangerous Substances and Diagnostics are performed. The tasks of this center and the Center for Technical Correctness of Vehicles complement each other, and in the realization of the tasks of these centers, mostly the same staff work.

The main activity of the Center for testing vehicles for the transport of dangerous goods and diagnostics consists of the following:

1. Professional Training of Persons Transporting Dangerous Goods and Handling Dangerous Goods

According to the existing national and international regulations, professional training of persons transporting dangerous goods and handling dangerous goods is performed in terms of meeting the requirements of the Law on Transport of Dangerous Goods and the European Convention on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). hazardous substances of the following classes:

• Class 1: - Explosive substances, Articles filled with explosive substances;
• Class 2 - Gases;
• Class 3 - Liquid combustible materials;
• Class 4 - Solid flammable substances;
• Class 5 - Oxidizing substances, Organic peroxides;
• Class 6 - Poisons, infectious substances;
• Class 8 - Corrosive substances;
• Class 9 - Other dangerous substances and objects.

2. Testing of Motor and Trailer Vehicles Intended for the Transport of Dangerous Goods

Testing of motor and trailer vehicles intended for the transport of dangerous goods is carried out in accordance with existing national and international regulations, in terms of meeting the requirements of the Law on Transport of Dangerous Goods and the European Convention on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), of the aforesaid classes.

3. Diagnostics of Motor Vehicles and Trailers

Considering that lately, in our area, an increasing number of vehicles are extremely complex constructions, and that an increase in that number is to be expected, there is a justified need for the work of the vehicle and engine diagnostics department within the Center for Testing Vehicles for Transport of Dangerous Goods and diagnostics and the Center for Technical Inspection of Vehicles.

This is all the more so because there is available staff that could do vehicle diagnostic work at the highest level. Necessary available space and equipment exist within the Faculty of Engineering in Kragujevac, and during the development of the Centers, equipment would be additionally procured and modernized.

Equipment, Space and Personnel in the Center for Testing of Vehicles for Transport of Dangerous Goods and Diagnostics

The equipment necessary for the work of the Center for Testing Vehicles for Transport of Dangerous Goods and Diagnostics exists at the Faculty of Engineering in Kragujevac within the Laboratory for Motor Vehicles and the Laboratory for Engines.
